Consolidating Colleges and Merging Universities by James Martin, James E. Samels and Associates
This book was published in 2016, and serves as a follow-up to the authors’ publication on the topic in 2000 (originally published in 1994), Merging Colleges for Mutual Growth: A new Strategy for Academic Managers. A book review of the new volume was published by HigherEdJobs.

We found the new volume, Consolidating Colleges and Merging Universities, to be much more of a primer on areas of partnership and collaboration for colleges and universities than a book about mergers and consolidations. Various partnership and collaboration models are discussed in depth, with only one chapter on actual mergers. For a more focused look into mergers and consolidations, we recommend the authors’ original book, Merging Colleges for Mutual Growth. The basic concepts discussed remain relevant today.
