Andy retired from Florida State University as Vice President of University Advancement and President of the Florida State University Foundation. Florida State University is a top-20 national public university with over 380,000 alumni and 42,000 students. His responsibilities included overseeing and leading all fundraising, alumni relations, and advancement efforts for the university. In addition to these roles, he served as President of the university's Real Estate Foundation.

Before joining FSU, Andy served as Vice Chancellor for Advancement and Chief of Staff to the Chancellor for the University of Colorado at Denver and Health Sciences Center. He was integral in consolidating the multicampus institution that employed over 12,000 full and part-time employees with an annual budget of $1.4 billion. His responsibilities included directly overseeing the advancement functions of the university, integrated communications, outreach and events, alumni relations, and the ombuds office. He also served as senior advisor to the Chancellor and senior officer interface with the Board of Regents office, the University of Colorado President’s office, university counsel, risk management, and state/federal relations.

His career has included various leadership roles in research and technology transfer. Important aspects of these roles encompassed contract negotiations, grant proposal submissions, compliance adherence, and fiscal forecasting.
